Presentation of Dynamic Series and Multi-Volumes in the Preview Bar

Concepts Used in Vidar Dicom Viewer

• Volume - a series of images that can be combined into a single array and presented as MPR and a 3D model
• MPR - Multiplanar Reconstruction
• 3D model - three-dimensional representation of the object
• Multi-volume - a series consisting of several volumes representing one examined object
• Dynamic series - a type of multi-volume - a series consisting of several volumes acquired at different time points

The representation of dynamic series and multi-volumes is analyzed by the software based on data received from the scanner console
The analysis result is displayed in the Preview Bar on the volume control panel (colored bar) at the bottom of the Series thumbnail:

• In the lower left corner of the series thumbnail as an icon:

  

  • 2D images have no icon and no volume control panel
  • - 2D tensor
  • - 2D dynamic series
• In the center, at the bottom, as the number of scans

  

  • Two numbers separated by a colon:
    
    1. indicates the number of volumes in the series
    2. the number of scans in the volume
    If there are several volumes in the series, such a series is called a multi-volume
  • When hovering the mouse cursor over the volume control panel in the Preview Bar, information about the multi-volume appears
  • Clicking the left mouse button on the volume control panel in the Preview Bar expands it; clicking again collapses it

  

  • The active volume (the one displayed on screen) will be highlighted in the list
  • Displaying a volume from the list on screen is similar to displaying a series thumbnail from the Preview Bar (double-click with the left mouse button, or drag and drop)
