Configuring Network and Auto-import of DICOM from a Folder
Import Tab
The program can receive studies in the background without user involvement
- via the DICOM C-Store network protocol
- by monitoring a specified directory for new files
Receiving Studies via DICOM C-Store
Activating the Function
- Check the box for C-Store receiving
- Specify the Vidar Dicom Viewer AETitle - a unique workstation name in the DICOM network
- Specify the TCP port for data reception
- Click the "Save" button, restart the program
Windows Configuration
- Log into Windows under an administrator account
- Add the program to the Firewall exceptions
Configure the workstation or PACS to send to this AETitle, IP address, and TCP port
Test Study Reception
- Send a study from another station or from PACS to Vidar Dicom Viewer
- If the study reception was successful, the program will notify you and offer to open it
Received studies are available in the Study Archive
- The program will accept all incoming DICOM C-Store connections
and series of all supported modalities

- The program receives studies only when it is running!
If the program is not running, studies will not be received and saved in the Archive

For full communication setup, additional configuration of the PACS server may be required
Consult with the network administrator and PACS system administrator
if difficulties arise in setting up communication
- If the specified TCP port is busy, the user will be notified when starting the program

The settings dialog also displays a signal reception status bar
The DICOM C-Store reception functionality is in beta testing!

Auto-import from a Folder
If DICOM studies are always imported from the same location on the hard disk:
- Check the "Auto-import from folder" box
- Specify the Path to the auto-import folder
It is not recommended to use network resources as an auto-import folder
There is a possibility of reading incompletely written files
If there is no access to the auto-import folder, the user will be notified when starting the program
Click the Save button, restart the program
The program will monitor the specified folder for new files
- When a new file is detected, it will be moved to the Study Archive
- The file will be deleted from the Auto-import folder!
- If the file belongs to a new study, the program will notify you and offer to open it
Receiving Studies via DICOM Query/Retrieve
- Specify the AE_TITLE
- Specify the data exchange method
Import from CD/DVD
To automatically open the CD/DVD tray after loading a new study into the program, check the box next to: "Automatically Eject the Disc from the Drive"
